Lab and Field Research Methods for IAs and Capstone Projects in Environmental Science

This workshop will run for 5 days in July 2019 in Asheville, NC. The goal of this workshop will be to help general level, APES, IB ESS, AP Biology and IB Biology teachers guide their students to develop independent research questions and experiments for IA’s and Capstone projects. Teachers will be led through demonstration experiments and use the skills and methods taught to generate novel questions and data collection. Research topics may be related to issues of air, water, soil, richness, abundance, biodiversity, disturbance, consumption or resources. Field stations, laboratory equipment, and online databases will be used for data collection. This course will cover content and assessment standards included in APES, IB ESS, AP Biology and IB Biology courses and be appropriate for any teacher of general or advanced level environmental science or biology.
