Student-designed Labs and Statistics for AP/IB Science
July 8, 2019 - July 12, 2019$550
This workshop will run for 5 days in July 2019 in Asheville, NC. The goal of this workshop is for each teacher to become comfortable leading students through the process of creating their own lab or field experiments and drawing data-supported conclusions. Teachers will be versed in using variance, standard deviation, standard error of the mean and the 95% confidence interval in describing data numerically and on graphs. Teachers will learn to run hypothesis tests (t-test, chi-squared, and Pearson’s test of Correlation) as well as apply rigor to other forms of data analysis. All participants will hone their skills at helping students generate novel research questions, collect appropriate data, and determining which statistical method to use.
