Using Critical Thinking Activities for Teaching Cell Biology
July 9, 2018 - July 13, 2018$550
Find yourself reviewing the number of ATP and NADPH for photosynthesis each year? Didn’t really know there were two steps to co-transport? Cellular processes are the foundation of biology–and the beauty is in the details. Make these topics yours by unpacking the chemistry and physics that drive movement, reactions, and results for cellular phenomena.
What better way to apply the concepts of cell biology than a personalized brewmaster’s class on fermentation? We will spend one morning touring a beer brewing facility to learn the procedure for creating a fermented beverage. Like any well-designed experiment, brewing is about controlling all variables except the one you intend to test. This field trip will be a lesson not only in applied fermentation but also in student-designed experimentation and careers in biology. In fact, prior to arriving you may want to plan the timing for any personal research you choose to do on this topic while you are in Beer City, USA!
