Using Critical Thinking Activities for Teaching Ecology
July 30 - August 3$550
The Summer Workshop for Ecology covers the foundation concepts for either Biology or Environmental Science at the general, AP, IB or college level. We will spend one day each performing activities that invite students to think critically about:
- Population Dynamics, Ecological Structure
- Field Experimentation
- Water Ecology, Resources, and Pollution
- Energy, Resources, and Pollution
- Biodiversity, Laws, and Regulation
Two full days will be spent in the balds and under the canopy of the Blue Ridge Mountains to conduct various field experiments and explore water ecology. A morning field trip to the local water treatment facility will exemplify how human-made systems are most successful when they mimic natural processes. Bring your long pants, sun hat, fleece, and sunglasses and be ready to enjoy the lush environment of the Appalachians in summer.
Visit the Summer Workshops page for details on travel, certification credits, and accommodations.
