Using Critical Thinking Activities for Teaching Genetics and Evolution
July 16 - July 20$550
The Genetics and Evolution workshop gives teachers hands-on methods to clarify the procedures used in genetic engineering and research, and the evidence and methods used in the study of evolution. Specific case studies, examples and activities from this workshop are applicable to students in general, Pre-AP/IB, AP/IB or college level courses.
This workshop covers evolution through an exploration of molecular and population genetics. Your students will never again muddle the process of DNA replication with protein synthesis when they portray the phenomena in ways that make lasting audio, visual and kinesthetic impressions. Fresh labs pair genetics and evolution, allowing students to see how environmental pressure leads to a measurable change in morphology, physiology, and molecules.
