Writing Lesson Plans Using NGSS Instructional Strategies
July 22, 2019 - July 26, 2019$550
This workshop will run for 5 days in July 2019 in Asheville, NC. The goal of this workshop is for each AP/IB/General science teacher to create a full unit of lesson plans on a content topic of their choosing where each lesson is packed with student-centered activities rooted in NGSS practices. Teachers may focus on producing phenomenon-based lessons, units with a central storyline, or backward-map their lessons based on measurable outcomes–each strategy will be taught as a means of developing a cohesive curriculum. We will use example activities to learn specific instructional methods such as modeling, debates, games, data-generating simulations, student-designed experiments, and computational analysis. Example activities will be used to teach instructional strategies so a teacher can choose the best teaching technique to use for the content and skills included in the plans they design.
