FREE – Incorporating NGSS Science and Engineering Practices into Your Science Curriculum

In this free workshop, sponsored by Carolina Biological Supply Company, I will use Carolina products to demonstrate how to increase the use of mathematics and computation in your classes. We will focus on two of the Science and Engineering Practices (SEP) that are required skills for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS):  Analyzing and Interpreting Data; Using  Mathematics and Computational Thinking. For each, we will tease apart the set of skills students need to master in order to demonstrate competency in these areas. The folks at Carolina will show us example activities, labs, and models that help students learn and practice these skills while covering content. We will discuss methods of assessment and classroom integration to facilitate the development of data analysis and the use of mathematics in your classroom in routine ways.
