Workshops

Kristen is the quintessential teachers’ teacher. Her classes are full of deep ideas and interesting activities, but more importantly, she knows how a teacher thinks, and so she’s able to craft her lessons in order to give her students time to absorb the information and figure out how to disseminate it to their own students. I feel so much more confident in how I’m going to prepare exciting, worthwhile lessons on something I used to feel scared to bring up in class. Thank you, Kristen!

I want to thank you for all of your help this past year. Your ideas and tools were most helpful in creating successful experiences for my students, most significantly the use of graphing techniques and data analysis and the lifesaving use of stop animation…I applied the graphing and statistical tools to a spring semester class for 8th graders revolving around a Planting Science module on genetics and growth in Brassica. This class would not have been possible without your workshops. I know that my students felt that they walked away with important tools under their belts.

Just a quick note to let you know how great the modeling workshop was.  Yesterday, we spent an entire period working on creating a model of a density question I had given the students last week.  While many students had done well with the writing piece, a few did very poorly.  It was amazing to see ALL students deepen their understanding by making models.
